Ramen Tamaru (Meguro) らーめん 田丸

Chashu-men: ¥1,100
About
Tamaru dates its founding to 1945, the year the war ended, and its small counter on Gonnosuke-zaka, the slope running down from Meguro Station, has fed generations of locals since. The bowl is the archetypal Tokyo ramen: a clear shoyu broth from chicken and pork bones, thin curly noodles, chashu, menma and nori, the kind of no-fuss ramen that predates every modern trend. The shop is cash only and has about ten seats, so turnover is quick. It is a useful counterpoint to the many newer ramen shops around Meguro Station.
