About

Mutekiya has been a fixture outside Ikebukuro Station's east side for decades, and the line of people stretching along the street, sometimes until late at night, is part of the landmark. The soup is a rich, creamy pork-bone tonkotsu, with thick noodles, generous slabs of braised pork, nori, a seasoned egg and bamboo shoots. The 'Honmaru-men' is the signature, piled high with all the toppings. Staff take your order while you wait outside, so the line moves fast once you reach the door. Late hours make it a popular post-karaoke or post-shopping stop.
