About

Perched on the 53rd floor of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, Mori Art Museum stages ambitious, well-curated contemporary exhibitions of Asian and international artists (recent years have brought Ron Mueck, Louise Bourgeois and Ai Weiwei), always with a strong participatory or immersive streak. There is no permanent collection, so check what is on. The great draw is the timing: it stays open until 22:00 on most days, so you can see an exhibition and then step into the Tokyo City View observation corridor on the 52nd floor to watch the city light up, with Tokyo Tower framed in the windows. The museum is scheduled to close for renovation from September 2027, so it is fully open through 2026. Photography is allowed in most exhibitions.
