About
Matsuchiyama is a small hill beside the Sumida River, and its temple, a sub-temple of Senso-ji, is dedicated to Kangiten (Shoten). Daikon radishes symbolise health and harmonious relationships and kinchaku purses stand for prosperity, so the two motifs appear on lanterns, roof tiles and gates. Visitors buy and offer daikon, and a large radish festival is held each January.
