Komagata Bridge 駒形橋
A 1927 arch bridge right by Asakusa, Japan's first full-scale steel half-through arch with a graceful central arch, lit up at night.
About
Komagata-bashi replaced the old Komagata ferry as part of the post-1923 reconstruction and was completed in 1927 to a design by Iwakiri Ryosuke. Its central span is a half-through tied arch, with the deck slung partway up the arch, flanked by smaller deck arches: it was recognised as a Japan Society of Civil Engineers heritage structure in 2024. The name comes from Komagata-do, a small hall for Bato Kannon on the west bank, said to be where the statue now at Senso-ji was first enshrined. From the bridge there are views of Azuma Bridge, the Asahi Beer "flame" and Tokyo Skytree upstream.
