About

VASARA runs around twenty stores across Japan, and the Sumidagawa branch is one of its most convenient: a two-minute walk from the Ginza Line exits and a few minutes from Kaminarimon. The standard plan is the bargain, you pick from the day's rack of standard-grade kimono (patterns cannot be reserved in advance), choose an obi, and staff dress you in about 20–30 minutes; bags, sandals, undergarments and a hair ornament are included. Upgrades buy you retro-modern or premium silk-look patterns, men's kimono with hakama-style options, couple sets and summer yukata. Booking online saves ¥1,000 (before tax) on most plans compared with walking in, and a student discount is available. The rental is a same-day affair: you must be back by 17:30, with a ¥1,100 late fee per item, and overnight returns cost extra. Kimono suits all ages and sizes up to a point; very tall visitors should mention it when booking. Classic photo spots within ten minutes: Kaminarimon, Senso-ji's five-storey pagoda and the riverside Sumida Park with Skytree behind.
