About

Kaikaya's owner is a keen surfer, and his izakaya feels like a beach house transplanted to Maruyamacho: surfboards on the walls, a long wooden counter, and a chalkboard of the day's seafood. The signature is maguro no kama, tuna collar and rib meat grilled on the bone like barbecue spare ribs, sticky and smoky. Other hits include sashimi platters, seafood carpaccio with Western touches, and simple grilled fish. Staff speak English, the menu is bilingual, and the atmosphere is lively and friendly, making it an easy first izakaya in Tokyo for groups.
