About

Kabukiza has been the home of kabuki since 1889; the current building preserves the baroque Japanese façade with a 29-storey office tower behind. Performances run most of the month in two (sometimes three) programmes daily, each about four hours with intermissions for bento. For first-timers, the best option is the single-act (hitomaku-mi) ticket: seats in the 4F gallery for one act, sold same-day at the dedicated box office to the left of the main entrance (some can be bought online in advance), around ¥800–2,500. English subtitle guides (via a rented device or the 'G-Mark' app) make the plot and stagecraft accessible. Even without a ticket, the 5F rooftop garden and souvenir shops in the basement (Kobikicho Plaza) are free to visit.
