About
Fuda Tenjin-sha is recorded in the Engishiki of 927 and moved to its present site in 1477 to escape Tama River floods, when Sugawara no Michizane was added as a deity. It became the guardian shrine of the five Fuda post towns on the Koshu Kaido.
