About

Disk Union is Japan's biggest used-record chain, and in Shinjuku it operates several separate shops within a few minutes of each other along Shinjuku-dori and its side streets, each devoted to a genre: the main store for rock and indie, plus dedicated jazz, heavy metal, Showa kayō (Japanese pop of the 1950s–80s) and anime/game music stores. Japanese pressings with obi strips, city pop LPs and rare jazz are the big draws, and condition grading is reliable. Prices range from ¥300 bargain bins to collector pieces.
