Cinema Vera Shibuya シネマヴェーラ渋谷
142-seat Shibuya repertory cinema devoted to themed retrospectives of classic Japanese and Hollywood films, often on 35mm.
About
Opened in 2006 in the KINOHAUS building, Cinema Vera runs themed series of older films, from 1950s-60s Japanese studio pictures to Hollywood classics and obscure works by major directors. It has 35mm and 16mm projectors. Time Out Tokyo features it in both its old-school and Shibuya cinema guides. Foreign films are normally screened in the original language with Japanese subtitles (look for 字幕 on the schedule, not 吹替 = dubbed); Japanese films are usually shown without English subtitles.
