Chuka Ryori Kikuo (Ginza) 中華料理 菊凰
A Ginza 1-chome machi-chuka serving orthodox Tokyo ramen since 1968, with a clear chicken and pork bone broth and homely Showa atmosphere.
Ramen and half fried rice: ¥1,100
About
Kikuo opened in 1968 near the Kyobashi end of Ginza and still serves the sort of ramen Tokyo office workers ate during the high-growth years: a clear broth from chicken and pork bones, seasoned with soy, over thin noodles with chashu, menma and green onion. The wider menu covers machi-chuka favourites such as fried rice, gyoza and stir-fried dishes. Prices and atmosphere are refreshingly ordinary for Ginza, making it a good lunch for travellers who want a taste of everyday old Tokyo amid the luxury boutiques.
