About

Before Trench there was Tram, opened by Takuya Ito, the bartender credited with reviving interest in yakushu, Japanese medicinal herbal liqueurs. The second-floor room is dim and cosy with a long counter, and the shelves hold about 70 absinthes plus dozens of rare herbal spirits, many imported directly. Ask for an absinthe drip with a sugar cube and fountain, or a herbal cocktail such as the Vertigo (Averna and ginger). It stays open later than most of Ebisu, so it is a natural last stop.
