About

Utsubo Park occupies the site of a former US military airfield and before that a fish and dried-goods market. Opened in 1955, it is long and narrow, split by the Naniwasuji road into an eastern side with a rose garden, fountains and lawns, and a western side with the Utsubo Tennis Center that hosts international tournaments. The tall zelkova trees create a green tunnel in summer and turn gold in autumn, and the rose garden peaks in mid-May and late October. Local office workers eat lunch on the lawns, and the streets around the park have become one of Osaka's best areas for independent cafes and bakeries.
