Tenjinbashi-suji Shopping Street 天神橋筋商店街
Japan's longest shopping street: 2.6 km of covered arcade with about 600 shops, from croquette stands and old kimono stores to sushi counters and cheap izakaya. Real everyday Osaka.
About
Tenjinbashi-suji runs north from near Osaka Tenmangu shrine through Tenma to Tenjinbashisuji 7-chome. It grew up serving pilgrims to the shrine and is now an endless parade of local life: greengrocers, fishmongers, tea shops, croquettes and fried snacks, used kimono, discount stores and some of Osaka's best-value restaurants including Harukoma sushi. Each chome section has its own character, and the 4-5 chome stretch near Tenma Station is the liveliest.
