Ura Tenma Izakaya District 裏天満
The cheap, rowdy drinking quarter around JR Tenma Station and Tenjinbashi-suji: open-front izakaya, standing bars and seafood counters where a night out costs half what it does in Kita-Shinchi.
About
Ura Tenma is the warren of streets just north and west of Tenma Station and the Tenjinbashi-suji arcade, home to hundreds of small eateries. Seafood is a speciality thanks to the nearby Tenma market, along with yakitori, horumon, oden and Osaka standards. Many places spill onto the street with plastic crates and open shutters, and highballs can be very cheap. It is popular with Osaka office workers and younger locals and feels authentic even on busy weekends.
