About

Opened in 1997 as one of Japan's first children's museums, Kids Plaza Osaka spreads over several floors of a building next to Ogimachi Park. The centrepiece is Kids Town, a multi-storey play structure of curving towers, slides and tunnels designed by the Austrian artist Hundertwasser, whose wavy lines and bright colours make it a fun photo even for adults. Around it are science corners, a water play area, a working TV studio where children read the news, a cooking corner, a supermarket role-play, and workshops on crafts and experiments. It is aimed at toddlers to about 12-year-olds and is a lifesaver for families on rainy days.
