About

Osaka loves tachinomi, standing bars where you can drink well for very little, and Tani in the Ohatsu Tenjin back streets of Umeda is a textbook modern example. Run by a yakitori group, it pairs skewers, chicken tempura and dashimaki with a big choice of regional sake and shochu. Before 19:00 the Tani set gives you three sakes and two snacks for about 1,000 yen; after that most drinks are still under 500 yen. It is in a basement, has some table seating, and is a good primer on Osaka drinking culture.
