About
Next to the Nagai Botanical Garden, the Osaka Museum of Natural History covers the geology, fossils, plants and animals of the Osaka region and beyond. You are greeted by the full skeleton of a fin whale (Nagasu-kun) outside, and inside are skeletons of a Naumann elephant and a Yabe giant deer that once roamed the Osaka plain, as well as dinosaurs, insects, and the story of how the Osaka basin formed. The Nature Hall hosts popular special exhibitions (2026 has featured mass extinctions). A combined ticket includes the botanical garden, making a nice half-day in southern Osaka.
