Nagai Park 長居公園
One of Osaka's biggest city parks: a 65 hectare green belt in the south of the city with stadiums, a jogging loop, lawns and a botanical garden, all right next to the subway.
About
Nagai Park holds Cerezo Osaka's two stadiums, and locals use its roughly 2.8 km outer loop as the city's favourite jogging course. Between the stadiums are wide lawns, tree-lined paths and plenty of benches, while the southeast corner holds the separately ticketed Nagai Botanical Garden and the Osaka Museum of Natural History. On match days the park fills with blue-and-pink scarves; on ordinary weekdays it is calm and spacious, a good antidote to the crowds of Namba and Tennoji.
Highlights
- About 2.8 km jogging loop used by runners all day
- Yodoko Sakura Stadium and the Yanmar Stadium Nagai
- Big lawns and shaded walking paths
- Gateway to the Nagai Botanical Garden and natural history museum
Tips
- Nagai Station on the Midosuji Line is at the park's west edge, so it is an easy half-day from Namba.
- Check the Cerezo Osaka fixture list: match days are lively but crowded.
- The botanical garden and museum charge admission; the rest of the park is free.
