About
Kogaryu opened in 1976 when Amemura was turning into Osaka's youth and streetwear hub, and it has been the neighbourhood snack ever since. The takoyaki are soft and fluffy with a mild, slightly sweet sauce and a heavy lattice of mayonnaise, which the shop popularised. Orders are fast and cheap, and most people eat on the benches outside or in the park across the road while watching the skaters and shoppers. It is a reliable alternative when the Dotonbori shops have big queues.
