Hozenji Yokocho 法善寺横丁
A stone-paved lantern alley of old-school restaurants, bars and kappo counters around the moss-covered Mizukake Fudo, the most atmospheric dining street in Minami.
About
Two narrow lanes run between Sennichimae and Dotonbori, lined with around 60 small restaurants: okonomiyaki, kushikatsu, oden, yakitori, kappo and late-night bars. The alley was rebuilt after fires in 2002 and 2003 in its traditional style, and the wooden facades, lanterns and wet flagstones are a favourite of photographers. It sits around Hozenji temple, where people splash water on the moss-covered Fudo statue. Many places are small and pricier than Dotonbori, but quieter and more refined.
