Teramachi Shopping Street 寺町京極商店街
A covered arcade running north from Shijo, with old incense, stationery, tea and wagashi shops mixed with vintage clothes, game stores and cafes.
About
Teramachi ('temple town') was laid out by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who moved temples here in the 1590s, and many still open off the arcade. The covered section between Shijo and Sanjo mixes traditional and modern shops: Kyukyodo stationery and incense, Smart Coffee, record stores, used kimono, game and anime shops, and drugstores. North of Oike, the uncovered Teramachi-dori becomes quieter and more traditional with antiques, art supply and tea shops like Ippodo.
