About
Takaragaike Park surrounds an Edo-period irrigation pond in the foothills of northern Kyoto. A flat path of about 1.5 km circles the water and is popular with joggers and walkers, with Mt Hiei rising to the east. The park also includes forest trails, a children's play area and sports grounds, and sits next to the Kyoto International Conference Center. It is a peaceful place to see autumn colours and spring cherries away from the tourist crowds.
