About
Shoraian sits upstream of Togetsukyo Bridge on the Oi River's forested east bank, in a former villa with tatami rooms and windows framing the river and mountains. Courses revolve around tofu and yuba: yudofu, fresh yuba sashimi, tofu dengaku, seasonal tempura and rice. The 10-minute walk along the river path to get there, past the boat landings, is part of the experience. Lunch is the popular slot; dinners are by reservation only.
