Courier company Sagawa Express keeps a counter on the Hachijo (south) side of Kyoto Station, next to the McDonald's by the Shinkansen side exit. Staff will hold bags for the day or ship them onward, which is useful in two situations: when you are moving between Kyoto and another city and want to travel light on the train, or when you are flying out of Kansai Airport and want your suitcase waiting for you there. Pricing depends on bag size and destination, and staff are used to dealing with foreign travellers.
