About

Saga-Arashiyama Station on the JR Sagano (San-in) Line is the fastest rail link between Kyoto Station and Arashiyama, around 15 minutes by local train and covered by the JR Pass. The modern station has a free north-south passage, and on its south side stands Torokko Saga Station, the start of the Sagano Scenic Railway, with its steam locomotive display and Diorama Kyoto JAPAN model railway. From the south exit it is about 10 minutes on foot to Tenryu-ji and the bamboo grove, and 15 to Togetsukyo. Locals use it as the quieter alternative to the Randen and Hankyu stations, particularly in the morning.
