About
Obanzai is everyday Kyoto home cooking: simmered vegetables, tofu and greens, small fish and seasonal dishes made with light, dashi-forward seasoning. At Menami, around twenty of them sit in large bowls on the counter, so you can choose by sight, alongside grilled fish, sashimi and seasonal specials. It has been serving the Kiyamachi crowd since the 1930s and has the warm, worn feel of a neighbourhood favourite with a good sake list.
