About

Kyoto Cinema has three small screens on the third floor of the COCON Karasuma building at the Shijo-Karasuma crossing. It programmes independent and arthouse films from Japan and abroad; Inside Kyoto estimates about half are in English and strongly recommends it to fans of independent cinema. The price page is bilingual. Foreign films are normally screened in the original language with Japanese subtitles (look for 字幕 on the schedule, not 吹替 = dubbed); Japanese films are usually shown without English subtitles.
