About
Soiree is lit in deep blue (chosen because it flatters women's skin, according to the founder), with dark carved woodwork and artworks by painter Seiji Togo. The signature is jelly punch: cubes of multi-coloured jelly floating in soda or yogurt, glowing under the blue light. The dining room upstairs is calmer than the ground floor. The cafe faces the Takasegawa canal at Shijo-Kiyamachi, so it pairs well with an evening in Pontocho.
