About

Ippodo has sold tea from the same Teramachi location for three centuries. The shop is a beautiful, calm wooden interior with tea jars and counters where staff weigh out loose leaf and explain grades. The attached Kaboku Tearoom lets you brew your own gyokuro or sencha with guidance, or have matcha whisked and served with a seasonal sweet. It is the best place in Kyoto to learn about and buy high-quality tea.
