Bungalow is one of Kyotos favourite casual drinking spots, on Shijo-dori west of Horikawa: a ground-floor standing bar with a big open frontage that spills onto the pavement in good weather, and a seated upstairs room. Its taps rotate through the best Japanese craft breweries, joined by natural wines and junmai sake, and the kitchen produces punchy, seasonal small plates. It calls itself an izakaya for drinkers, and on Friday nights it is packed with local creatives and brewers.
