Arashiyama Yoshimura 嵐山よしむら
Handmade soba with an upstairs window view straight onto Togetsukyo Bridge and the Arashiyama hills. The view seat that every Arashiyama food reel features.
About
Yoshimura makes its soba in house and serves it hot or cold with tempura, tororo (grated yam) and other toppings, alongside sets that come with rice dishes. The draw is the second-floor dining room, whose wide windows look straight out over the Katsura River and the famous Togetsukyo Bridge with Arashiyama's wooded slopes behind. It is set up for crowds, with ticket queues and English menus, and the food is solid rather than exceptional; you come for the bowl-with-a-view.
