About

Rokko Shidare is an observatory designed by architect Hiroshi Sambuichi (opened 2010) at Rokko Garden Terrace. Its lattice dome of cypress wood frames the view, with outdoor decks looking from Awaji Island across Osaka Bay to the Osaka plain and Kansai Airport. In summer a natural ice-store cools the inner 'wind room'. At night the panorama becomes one of Japan's best-known night views.
