About
Kokoen opened in 1992 on the site of the lord's west residence next to Himeji Castle. Its nine separate walled gardens show different Edo-period styles, including a lord's garden with a pond and waterfall, a tea garden where matcha is served, a pine garden and a bamboo garden. Castle views over the walls are a highlight.
