About

Run by Narita Airport and local municipalities, this programme pairs international transit passengers with more than 200 volunteer guides, local residents and students who speak English, for half-day trips out of the airport. Six standard tours cover Narita City (about 3 hours: Naritasan and Omotesando), Katori/Sawara (about 5 hours), Tako, Shibayama (Museum of Aeronautical Sciences), Sakae (Boso no Mura) and Kozaki's fermentation village. The guiding is free; you pay only your own train fares, food and admissions. Paid Transit & Stay Plus tours add experiences such as brewery tastings, knife forging, ninja techniques and festival float-pulling.
