About

Sagiridai ('Fog Terrace') sits on the prefectural road climbing from Yufuin toward Beppu, and is the spot to see Yufuin as a whole: a neat bowl of rice fields and inns ringed by mountains, with Mt. Yufu's twin peaks to the left. On calm autumn and winter mornings after a cold night, the basin fills with fog to the brim and the town disappears beneath a white sea, with the sun rising over it. There is a small car park, toilets and a viewing platform. Most people stop on the drive or bus ride between Beppu and Yufuin.
