About

Opened in 2017, COMICO Art Museum is a small, beautifully finished private museum by Kengo Kuma: low buildings clad in charred cedar planks, gravel courts and a shallow pool that mirrors Mt. Yufu, so the architecture is half the visit. Inside, a tight collection of Japanese contemporary stars rotates through intimate galleries: Kusama's polka dots, Murakami's flowers, Nara's moody children, Sugimoto's seascapes, and since an April 2026 renewal, a permanent room of works by Lee Ufan. It sits just off Yunotsubo street, so it's an easy reset from the crowds.
