Yamashita Park 山下公園
Yokohamas classic seafront promenade: a 750 m park built on earthquake rubble in 1930, with the historic liner Hikawa Maru moored alongside and harbour views to the Bay Bridge.
About
Yamashita Park runs along the waterfront from Osanbashi Pier toward the Marine Tower, built on land reclaimed from the rubble of the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake and opened in 1930. Benches line the sea wall facing the harbour, with Yokohama Bay Bridge to the east and Minato Mirai to the west. Moored alongside is the Hikawa Maru, a 1930 ocean liner that once sailed to Seattle and is now a museum ship. The rose gardens bloom in May and October, and the "Girl with Red Shoes" statue and a guardian water statue from San Diego dot the park. Chinatown is five minutes inland.
