Yanaka Himalayan Cedar Corner 谷中のヒマラヤ杉
A huge Himalayan cedar towering over an old wooden house at a quiet Yanaka crossroads, one of the most loved scenes of Tokyo's old town.
About
Walk to the junction at the top of Miura-zaka in Yanaka 1-chome and stand on the opposite corner: the giant cedar, said to be around 100 years old, spreads above a small old wooden house and a corner shop, its trunk rising from a tiny patch of ground. Shoot with a wide lens from across the road to include the whole tree and building, or vertically to show its height. Late afternoon light filters through the branches. The house and tree are on private land: shoot from the public road, do not touch the tree or enter the property, and keep quiet.
