About

Completed in 1958 as a broadcast tower and symbol of Japan's recovery, Tokyo Tower is 13 m taller than the Eiffel Tower and painted international orange and white for aviation safety. The two-floor Main Deck at 150 m offers 360° views and glass floor 'look-down windows'; the Top Deck Tour takes you up to 250 m into a geometric, mirror-lined gallery with a timed entry, a welcome drink and a photo. On clear winter days Mount Fuji appears to the west. The 600-step outdoor staircase is open to climbers on weekends and holidays (weather permitting), and at night the tower switches between the warm orange 'Landmark Light' and the multicolour 'Infinity Diamond Veil'. Its base, Foot Town, holds souvenir shops and cafés.
