About

Sushi Zanmai opened its first shop at Tsukiji in 2001 as one of the market's first round-the-clock sushi restaurants, and its owner Kiyoshi Kimura became a celebrity by paying record prices for the first bluefin tuna of the year at the New Year auction (including ¥333.6 million in 2019). The main store in the outer market is open 24 hours, so it is the classic place to eat sushi at dawn or after a late night out. The menu is broad and reasonably priced: bluefin akami, chutoro and otoro, maguro tasting sets, seasonal fish, rolls and donburi, ordered from picture menus or a tablet in English. It's neither the cheapest nor the most refined sushi in town, but it is reliable, friendly and open whenever you need it.
