Shakujii River Cherry Blossoms (Itabashi) 石神井川の桜(板橋・加賀)
A long stretch of the Shakujii River in Itabashi where hundreds of cherry trees arch over the water, lit up at night in peak season.
About
Walk the riverside path around Kaga 1-chome near Midori-bashi and shoot along the channel: cherry branches hang low from both banks and almost meet over the water, with petals collecting on the river surface after peak bloom. The stretch is a local favourite and much less crowded than Meguro River. During the festival period in early April the trees are illuminated in the evening, which makes for a beautiful reflection shot. The path is narrow: keep moving in crowds, do not climb the railings and do not shake or pull branches.
