Sangenjaya Sankaku Chitai 三軒茶屋 三角地帯
A triangle of tangled Showa-era alleys packed with tiny bars, izakaya and eateries right by Sangenjaya Station. Locals' drinking maze, almost no tourists.
About
Between Setagaya-dori and Tamagawa-dori sits the 'Delta Zone', a dense block of narrow lanes left over from the postwar black market that redevelopment has yet to reach. It's packed with standing bars, yakitori counters, wine bars, Okinawan joints and tiny live-music spots, all inhabited by Setagaya's young professionals and long-time regulars. Carrot Tower's free 26th-floor observation deck next door gives a sunset view to Mt Fuji before you dive in.
Highlights
- Maze of Showa-era alleys a minute from the station
