Rinshi-no-mori Park 林試の森公園
A former national forestry research station turned wild woodland park, full of exotic giant trees, one of the most loved green spaces in south Tokyo.
About
From 1900 until 1978 this was the Forestry Experiment Station, where scientists planted trees from around Japan and the world. When the station moved, the land became a public park, and the result is a forest unlike any other in Tokyo: towering tulip trees, Himalayan cedars, giant redwoods, sycamores and camphor trees, with big lawns, a stream, rope-net playgrounds for kids and wildflower meadows. Birders, runners and families from Meguro and Shinagawa are devoted to it, yet you will almost never meet a foreign visitor.
