About

Kansen-en is Shinjuku Ward's only stroll-style garden, laid out on the former lower residence of the Shimizu Tokugawa family. A spring here once supplied water prized for tea, which gave the garden its name ('sweet spring'). Paths circle a pond under maples and pines, and it is rarely crowded.
