About

Himonya Pond, one of the few spring-fed ponds left in Meguro, is the heart of this local park. Rent a rowing boat or swan pedalo, visit the little Benten shrine on its island, then wander to the Children's Animal Zoo (Himonya Doubutsu Hiroba), where small kids ride ponies around a ring and cuddle guinea pigs. Elderly residents fish for carp, joggers circle the water and cherry trees blossom in spring. It is the opposite of a tourist attraction, and that is the appeal.
