About
Higashi-Fushimi Inari Shrine was established in 1929 by dividing the deity of Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto so that people in the Kanto region could worship without the long journey. The station and neighbourhood were even renamed after it. Behind the vermilion main hall, paths lined with red torii lead past rows of small worshippers' mounds (otsuka), offering a compact taste of Fushimi Inari without the crowds.
Highlights
- Red torii tunnels behind the main hall
- Vermilion shrine buildings
- Otsuka mounds with fox statues
- Few visitors compared with Kyoto
Tips
- Respect worshippers; the otsuka area is still actively used
- Combine with Musashi-Seki Park nearby
