Chuka Soba Ikyo (Jimbocho) 中華そば 伊峡
A Jimbocho bookstreet favourite since 1966, serving textbook Tokyo shoyu chuka soba and a famous fried rice to students and booksellers at low prices.
Fried rice: ¥750
About
Ikyo opened in 1966 just off Suzuran-dori in Jimbocho, Tokyo's secondhand book district, and is often cited as a model of 'Tokyo ramen': a clear, soy-forward broth of chicken and pork bones, thin curly noodles, chashu, menma and nori, served fast and cheap. The other reason to come is the fried rice, and many regulars order a ramen with half fried rice. The room is plain and turnover is brisk, with university students and book-dealers sharing the counter. It is the perfect refuel between bookshops.
