Mount Hodo is reached by a ropeway or an hour's hike from Hodosan Shrine near Nagatoro Station. Near the summit are gardens of wintersweet (robai), which fill the air with scent in January-February, plus plum trees and the shrine's inner sanctuary, with views over the Chichibu mountains.
